You can read more about the Jesse Tree tradition and instructions below.

In Isaiah Chapter 11, God promises that a shoot will come forth from the stump of Jesse, that is Jesus. Jesse was the father of King David and Jesus is a descendent from the line of David. Each day during Advent, study a scripture about someone from Jesus’ family tree and see how God was at work through many generations to bring forth the promised Savior. Then decorate the day’s ornament and hang it on your tree.

Advent begins on the fourth Sunday before Christmas. The earliest it ever begins is on November 27th, meaning a maximum of 28 days in Advent plus Christmas Day. On years with less days during Advent you could choose to skip some devotions. Or you could choose to start early and use all 29 ornaments, ending on Christmas Day with the birth of Jesus.
